Work In Progress Wednesday #6

Wow what a week it has been.  Not much progress at all for me this week, but for a good reason.  Long story short...my Father-In-Law Doug had a kidney transplant last Thursday!  He's been on the transplant list for 5 years and had started dialysis in February.  It's been a whirlwind of a week but we are all learning the ins and outs of the kidney transplant procedure and how life will be for my FIL now that he has received his kidney.

So that's what's been going on over here.  I did manage to finish sewing and cutting the Butterfly Faux Chenille Blanket, so all I need to do with this one is to square it up and sew on the binding (which I will be attempting to make my own because there weren't any colors of the pre-made bias tape that matched...you will surely hear about how this goes whether it's good or bad, ha!).  Anywho, here's how the blanket looks at the moment.

I love the close up shots of these blankets...just love em!

Today I will be starting on the Monkey Faux Chenille Blanket so I'm hoping to make some good progress on that one here in the next few days.  So that's all I have for you today, but I'm hoping to have a productive sewing week!

Here's the round up:

Finished:
  • Sadly, nothing :-(
In Progress:
  • Butterfly Chenille Blanket
  • Monkey Chenille Blanket
  • Another Green Bay Chenille Blanket
  • Cow Fabric
  • Quilts for Kids Quilt

Work In Progress Wednesday #5

Mission Finish A Chenille Blanket And Matching Burp Cloths By Saturday ACCOMPLISHED!  I just love that pink leopard fabric.  I'm very tempted to go back and buy the rest for myself!  Anywho, here's how it all looked!

And I've decided to call my pallet planter a finished product.  I wanted to add some more decorative stuff to it but I just don't know what I want to put right now.  I'll have a post on this very soon as well.  Here it is with some other planters I have now :-)

Please ignore the fact that there is no grass here :-)

See that cute little heart rock on top of the planter??? I found that when we were tilling up our garden, so of course I HAD to keep it :-)

Okay now onto the WIPs.  I had quite the kick of motivation on the butterfly chenille blanket and ended up getting all the sewing done in two nights.  All that's left is the cutting and adding the binding on.  Once I get this one cut I'm going to start working on the other blanket before sewing the binding on.

And finally here's the round up!

Finished:
  • Pink Leopard Chenille Blanket & Burp Cloths (aka URGENT blanket)
  • Pallet Planter

In Progress:
  • Butterfly Chenille Blanket
  • Monkey Chenille Blanket
  • Another Green Bay Chenille Blanket
  • Cow Fabric
  • Quilts for Kids Quilt

My cute little helper Bella :-)

  • Monkey Chenille Blanket
  • Another Green Bay Chenille Blanket
  • Quilts for Kids Quilt

The NASCAR Experience via Pocono Speedway

My wonderful husband Dylan was able to get us tickets to the Pocono 400 that was this past Sunday.  This was my first NASCAR race and let me tell you it was quite exciting!  Now I wouldn't consider myself a fan of NASCAR but we do like to watch some of the races.  As in we like to watch the beginning of the race and the end of the race...and sometimes we will check out what's going on in between.  But seeing the race in person is wayyyyyyyyyy more exciting than watching it on TV!  It was a long day but we had a great time and we will definitely be going to another race in the future!  Here are some pictures of our NASCAR Experience!

Work In Progress Wednesday #3

Is it seriously Wednesday again already?? Yikes!  Well here's what has been going on this past week.

I have been asked to make ANOTHER faux chenille baby blanket!  I am trying to get one of them done by a June 16th deadline.  I'm also trying to get the butterfly and monkey blankets done within the next 2-3 weeks as well.  And I have a request for another Green Bay Packers blanket.  I have a LOT of sewing in my future!

I've been working with the cow print fabric and have half of the project done but can't reveal it yet.  But here is a teaser!

This movie sign is the mystery project Dylan was helping me with.

We made it for my good friend Allisha's suprise Bridal Brunch that had a movie theme.  It took us all week and I was doing touch up painting the morning of the bridal shower because of that stinkin' rain around here lately!  But I got it done in time and it looks awesome!  We painted it with the chalkboard surface so they can write whatever they want on it.

I have also been working on my pallet planter and I got some paint on it, but I still want to add a little something else to it before I plant my herbs.  It's a bit plain right now, but here is what I have done with it so far.

Here's a complete recap:

Finished:

  • Movie Sign

In Progress:

Whew!  I think that's all I have going on right now.  I have my work cut out for me the next few weeks!

And of course I'm linking up to Work In Progress Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced!  Head on over a check out what other have going on!

Have I Told You Lately...

...how much I L-O-V-E clearance sections!!??!!  Look at what I found in those treasure filled areas this week. (Sorry for the less than stellar quality of pictures...I swear every time I try to take pictures of things outside it stinkin rains!  So I gave up and just took these pictures inside.)

I got two packs of these hexagon pre-cuts at Joanns for $6 a pack.  I saw the yellow and I just had to have it!  I  fell in love with yellow when I decided on it for my wedding colors (but I STILL do not like yellow cars, ha!).  What's best about these packs is that there is a quilt pattern printed on the packaging! SCORE!  This will certainly come in handy for me when I get around to this because I have no idea how to do anything with hexagons!

I also found these adorable Jelly Rolls for $6 a roll as well!  The fabric in these rolls are  just adorable!

I also had to make a trip to Wal-Mart (or Wally World as we like to call it) to pick up a few things and I ALWAYS look in the clearance sections when I'm there, you just never know what you will find!  Although I must say WM needs to keep their clearance items in their original sections.  I found the craft/fabric clearance at the front of the store in the aisle next to the pool cleaning supplies...good thing I pretty much walk through every aisle in WM when I'm there or else I would have never found this.  Anywho, I ended up getting all of this for $30!

Once again the jelly roll fabrics are awesome.  And of course I couldn't turn down the yellow in the super singles pack.

The only bad thing about finding all of this great fabric is that it will have to sit in my fabric bin for a while since I have some other things to finish first.  But I guess I'll take that as a good thing so I have time to prepare myself!

Hello There June!

Well it's June 1st already...I'm not sure how that happened.  May sure did fly by!!  I didn't make much sewing progress in May but I did finish a few other projects.  As for June, I sure have my work cut out for me!  I think my motto for June will be "oh boy, what did I get myself into!"

I now have THREE faux chenille baby blankets to make and I'm trying to get one done in two weeks!!  I need to get moving here!

Yesterday I received my quilting pack from Downy Quilts for Kids that needs to be completed and returned within 4-6 weeks.  If you haven't heard of the Downy Quilts for Kids program, head over to their website HERE and check it out.  I can't remember how I found this program (somewhere between my blog and pinterest hopping) but I'm glad I found it!  It is such a great program!  If you want to make a quilt for the program, all you do is sign up with your information and they will send you the quilting kit (the only thing you need to buy is the thread and batting) with directions and once you are finished you send them back the quilt and they distribute their finished quilts to various hospitals.  Since they provide the materials they ask that you kindly send one of your own quilts along to help with costs.  Since this will be my first "real" quilt, I am just going to send a donation along that will cover the cost of the quilt materials.  Next time I will send a second quilt along with the provided kit.  Anywho here is the kit they sent me!

I'll be updating on the progress of this project since it is my first "real" quilt.

Since it's a new month I'm linking up to the Fresh Sewing Day & Small Blog Meet over at Lily's Quilts again! Yay!

Lily's Quilts

I just love reading all of her posts over there.  She makes BEAUTIFUL quilts (I'm super envious!) and she really loves reaching out to the bloggy world by hosting these linky parties.  So head on over there and see what others have been working on and visit those Small Bloggers as well!

Oh yeah, Happy Friday!
