WIP Wednesday #14

I'm a little late to the party this week...but I'm here!  Dylan is back on nightshift and we are both trying to adjust to a new schedule (I don't have much to adjust to except that now I can go to bed whenever I want since he doesn't get home until around 6:30am).  BUT I actually have some stuff to show!  Say what?!!? :-)

After Dylan left for work tonight I was able to finish up what I'm gonna call my Sewing Utensil Holder.

This was so simple but I think it will be a nice addition to my Thread Holder and my new "shelves" (more on those later!  It's just a tin can that I painted with the same paint I used on my thread holder, and then I hot glued some vase filler rocks to it with a few little bling rhinestones mixed in.

The other day I got my fabric that I ordered for the Shades of Gray Charm Swap and here's what I chose.  I already had a fat quarter of this same fabric before the swap was announced, so as soon as I decided I wanted to be a part of the swap I KNEW I was going to buy more of this fabric (and how ironic that the fabric is from the Shades of Grey line by Daisy Janie?!).  I just need to get this all cut up and in the mail and then wait for my return package!

I'm also working on a matching washcloth for a pink scrubbie I made.  It's coming along nicely and it will go perfectly with it's matching scrubbie.

Speaking of scrubbies....here's how many I have made so far!

Yes I put the scrubbies in Bella's doggie bed to get a picture.  It actually looks much better than how I had them splayed across my sewing table.  I've probably made around 30 of these already.  They are so easy to make while sitting there watching The Big Bang Theory re-runs, or to take my mind off of work during my lunch break.

Oh and have you noticed my blog name on my pictures now?!  I've also been playing around in Picasa lately.  I'm still getting the hang of if so don't judge me too much yet!

Here's the round up:

Finished:
  • Sewing Utensil Holder
  • More crochet scrubbies...I've lost count at this point :-)

In Progress:

  • Quilts for Kids Quilt
  • Shades of Gray Charm Swap
  • Another Green Bay  Faux Chenille Blanket
  • Cow Fabric Project (half remains!)
  • Test out my new KAM Snap Plier set! (still haven't done this yet, pathetic, I know!)
  • Cloth Diapers
  • More scrubbies!

And of course, I'm linking up to Work In Progress Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced, with this week's guest host, Michelle from CityHouseStudio.

WIP Wednesday-13

Not much to report for my WIPs this week.  It must be summer winding down and things getting crazy around here.  Our next three weekends are full of events so I probably won't get much accomplish, which stinks.

I did manage to take apart the large border off the Quilts for Kids quilt that I sewed on upside-down...and that's all I did with that (it's sad...I know....really).  I reallllllly need to kick it in gear...like seriously.  Anyone want to give me a kick in the rear?? haha!

BUT I am still trucking away and making these wonderful crochet scrubbies.  They are seriously addicting to make!  Here are some pictures I took using Instagram (probably my favorite phone app!)

I just love the things you can do with Instagram!  If you are on Instagram you can follow me @saratyme26.  If you do you will see random pictures of my husband, my puppy, a few projects and some views from around where I live.

Also I have joined my VERY FIRST fabric swap! I have joined the Shades of Gray Charm Square Swap over at Color My World.  I ordered my fabric yesterday and I can't wait to get it all cut up and sent off so I can get a bundle back!

WIP Wednesday-12

Well I haven't managed to get much done the past two weeks but I do have a little bit to show :-)

I got the inner and outer borders put on the Quilts for Kids quilt.

I was just getting ready to trim the outer border when I noticed something wasn't right....

ughhhh I just pinned the piece and sewed it...didn't even bother to see if it was facing the right way!  Crap!  I'll be giving my little seam ripper a workout tonight!
I've also been doing a little bit of crocheting and making these little cute scrubbies.  I think they will be a great little addition to Christmas and Birthday presents so I plan on making a TON of these.

That's all I've been up to.  Now that the Olympics are over I can get back to my sewing :-)  I'm making a trip to JoAnn's during my lunch break today to pick up more yarn and some microfleece to start working on the cloth diapers.

I should start trying to find that Green Bay Packers fabric again.  Seems like everytime I tried to find it this spring and summer is was out of stock (maybe because it wasn't football season???)

Anywho! Here's the round up:

Finished:
  • 14 crochet scrubbies

In Progress:
  • Quilts for Kids Quilt
  • Another Green Bay  Faux Chenille Blanket
  • Cow Fabric Project (half remains!)
  • Test out my new KAM Snap Plier set! (still haven't done this yet, pathetic, I know!)
  • Cloth Diapers
  • More scrubbies!

I'm Still Here!

That's right I'm still here!

I'm just going to blame my little blogging absence on the Olympics :-)  No, but seriously I watched the Olympics every single night, which didn't leave me any time to sew (since I can't see the TV from my sewing table)...and I couldn't miss the women's gymnastics OR Michael Phelps by making noise sewing! hehe!

I have some good stuff to tell everyone about in the next few days, like my crocheting projects, a bunch of new fabrics I ordered (with projects planned) and a new storage area for my sewing goods.  Yippeee!

Work In Progress Wednesday-11

Holy crow it's really Wednesday again?!?!  Time sure is flying around here!  We have been so busy it's crazy (and we don't have any kids!).  I haven't made any progress on the Quilts for Kids quilt this week (sad!) and I probably won't make much progress on it the next two weeks either since Dylan is working different shifts these next two weeks (he normally works 3pm-11pm so I always have the night to do whatever I want).

I did end up making an adorable wine bag for a good friend of mine for her bridal shower.  And since I was finishing it that morning I totally forgot to take some pictures of it!  Ughhhh!!  But I'll have some pics of it here in the next fews days.  It's not perfect but I think it was pretty darn good for my first try :-)

August and September are going to be superrrrrr crazy too.  I'm going to a Bachelorette Weekend in Atlantic City one weekend, I'm in a wedding the next weekend, attending another wedding the next weekend, and then we have a memorial motorcycle dice run the next weekend.  Holy canoli I'll be lucky if I get anything done!
Oh and to add to my list...I received a bunch of supplies to *attempt* to make some cloth diapers for a friend.  So I have to work on as well.  Oh joy this is going to be interesting :-)

Here's the weekly round up:

Finished:
  • Wine Bag
In Progress:
  • Quilts for Kids Quilt
  • Another Green Bay  Faux Chenille Blanket
  • Cow Fabric Project (half remains!)
  • Test out my new KAM Snap Plier set! (ughhhh how did I NOT do this yet?!?!)
  • Cloth Diapers
